Dear Reader,
I hope this love letter finds you well.
December is a month that stresses me out, because it’s cold and grey up here and people are hurried, stressed, running around in circles and generally appearing to be a little less lovely than usual. So every year i say, “That’s it, I’m not doing Xmas anymore!”. I then don’t decorate, plan nothing for the socials, and for years now, i’ve regained some peace from the chaos. 😅
However, this year appears to be different. 2022 was the year i started my Substack newsletter and i remembered that i have readers that i really care about and feel a strong sense of responsibility towards. I need to show up. I want to show up! The festive season may be a sad and stressful season for a lot of people but what about the real spirit behind the torn wrapping paper all over the living room floor, the cat knocking the huge plastic tree over, or the Rubenesque eating orgies? Isn’t Christmastime primarily a time for togetherness (with self or others), self-reflection and generosity?
So this year I changed my approach, albeit last-minute! It is 6pm on the 25th December right now as i write. I self-reflected and remembered that life is what we make it. If i continue to focus on this being a stressful time of year, then it will continue to be a stressful time every single year, not only for me but for all those who come into contact with me. Because we all know very well how energy spreads.
I decided to focus on the generosity part of Christmas instead and give you something back - my heartfelt gratitude to you for your support of Love & Decibels so far; my warmest and most sincere wishes for a fun and happy festive season; and a fun little Polaroid to make you smile! 😊
Thank you so much to each and every one of you who has been subscribing, reading and commenting on my content. Know that you are appreciated and that while i do create all sort of content outside of Substack for myself and for my followers, Love & Decibels is something that i do 100% for you - my reader.
I look forward to writing even more content for you and developing an even closer connection with you in 2023.
Enjoy this special time of year to the fullest! 🌟 ✨
Love and Decibels,
