An interesting read Jo - I think about this often, not necessarily working too much but how a lot of us, I'm assuming many readers still have a day job in addition to being an artist, can't afford not to be workaholics.

It might be a bit off topic but live is super expensive, the economies of many countries are not what they can be (let's not stray into politics) - I think most of us workaholics have not other option -_-

Wishing you a great Friday!

Thanks Richard.

I do see where you're coming from... and I actually scored quite high on those "Often" answers myself. It's not easy finding that balance, I know.

There's just a line where, when it gets too much, it starts becoming really dangerous to our health, because apparently we are not designed by nature to overdo it this way.

At some stage, if it goes too far and the body takes over, it can lead to things like strokes or even complete shutdown of the brain. That's why I'd suggest at least just stepping back from time to time and re-balancing before going at it again. At least that's what I've had to do and have heard from 3 people recently that they were forced to do a full stop from one day to the next because their brain just stopped from the overload.

Wishing you a really good weekend, too!

It's always difficult to find work/life balance. Sometimes when you have the time that creativity isn't there and you end up playing the Switch for a couple of hours. But this particular society does seem to expect extra hours from everyone while not offering much peace of mind or tranquility in exchange.

Especially today, Scott. I remember thinking back in the 90s (!) how work-life balance in Australia wasn't so much an issue... I think even today it depends what one does. I know I have yet to strike a true balance. I think as long as we do our best and not ignore the signs from our bodies/brains when they become uncomfortable, that's OK too.

Happy holidays to you.
